Studying and Teaching in Vietnam
The English teaching industry in Vietnam is booming, with many jobs available in Universities as well as private language schools.
At iCan we teach all age groups and make classes interactive and fun, including activities such as beach outings with our students.
When teaching English for a private language institute in Vietnam you can expect to teach both in-house and on site at client locations.
Working hours are generally 25 hours per week, but you may also be expected to join in with occasional after school meetings and activities.
Salaries for English teachers in Vietnam are from $1,200 – $1,800 per month, or $15 – $22 per hour, depending on the location. You will generally need to pay for your own accommodation, although some schools will include this in their remuneration package.
Finding a Teaching Job In Vietnam
We know that this is probably your #1 concern about moving to a new country. We will make the extra effort to find you the job you want.
Danang is a highly sought after area for teachers to come teach English, although the salaries are not as high as can be found in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. On the flip side, neither is the cost of living.
iCan will introduce teachers to schools in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, as well as Danang, according to individual preference and availability.

It is an up and coming, hip city just half an hour from many historical sites, including Hue, the My Son ruins and Hoi An.

Danang is 108km from Hue, 130km from Quang Ngai, 763km from Hanoi, and 947km from Ho Chi Minh City.
Average temperature is about 26C, the highest is 28-30C in June, July, August, the lowest is 18-23C in December, January and February. In Ba Na Mountain, the temperature is 20C.
Average rainfall is 2,505mm per year that concentrates during October and November.

Accommodation in Danang, Vietnam
Danang is Vietnam’s most tourist friendly city with a population of close to a million. Wide boulevards and light traffic make it an easy city to learn to ride a motorbike and explore the local region.
iCan will assist students in finding accommodations in Danang. Rooms for hotels and guesthouses start at USD 10/night. We can also assist with finding private and shared apartments.
Seafood is plentiful and cheap. For a change from the amazing local fare, KFC and Burger King can also be found in town.

ALAP is supported by an esteemed Academic Panel who are all experts in the field of English Language Teaching. The ALAP panel oversee matters related to academic quality, ensuring that the value of an ALAP Certificate is upheld.
Unit 1: The Study of English
Module 1 – Grammar – tasks on the understanding of grammar, tense & structure – to be completed with the use of a grammar book.
Module 2 – Phonetics – tasks relating to the phonetic alphabet(given), stress & intonation.
Module 3 – Lexis – tasks relating to the presentation of vocabulary, compound words, word stems, language appropriacy & frequency.
Unit 2: The Teaching and Learning of ESOL
Module 1 – Basic Principles – answers from your own experience and the course materials on:
1) the blocks which may prevent learning
3) communicative competence.
Module 2 – Reading and Listening – tasks based on exploitation of authentic materials i.e. magazines, newspapers, radio broadcasts etc.
Module 3 – Speaking and Writing – tasks based as above but with a more productive bias – getting your students to produce language
Module 4 – Visual Aids – study of all the audio-visual aids available. Production of your own flashcards and aids to be used with a simple flannelgraph.
Module 5 – Error – looking at authentic student errors, classifying them, using a correction code, producing remedial exercises and improving your own practice.
Unit 3: Lesson Planning
Module 1 – Classroom Management – task relating to student teacher relationships and how to achieve genuine communication inside and outside the classroom.
Module 2 – Lesson Stages and Plans – putting all the above into a lesson; timing; warm-up; input; practice and production stages of your lessons.
Award of Certificate
